Devonia Guest House

Getting here:
Devonia is a 10 minute walk from the sea, ¼ mile from the South West Coastal path and ½ mile from the Wessex Ridgeway. The closest bus stop is at the top of Woodmead Road (31) and the X 53 stops in Broad Street, 5 minutes walk away.

Axminster is the nearest train station - a 15 minute bus ride (31) or taxi ride (approx £14) away.

Devonia has its own car park at the side of the house, with clearly marked out parking spaces. Guests are welcome to drop passengers and/or luggage off outside the front door, before parking. We’re always happy to help with carrying luggage, but do struggle with weights over 20kg.

Arrival:
Devonia is an Edwardian house built over three floors. It has been run as a guesthouse for many years, so guests have their own entrance, lounge and breakfast room, but there is no lift.

There is an even and level stone pathway to the front door, and then there is a small step up into the porch. The whole of the ground floor (hall way, guest lounge and dining room) is level, with woodblock floor and carpet.

All the bedrooms are on the first and second floor and there is no lift. That said, the stairs are even and have handrails. The bedrooms all have individually controlled radiators.

Safety:
We have a fully compliant fire alarm, which is inspected annually, with audible and visible alarms, and emergency lighting.

Lighting:
We have automatic lighting in the stairs and hallways which are triggered by movement sensors. We have background lighting in the hall and lounge, which is set on timer clocks, and a night light in the main hallway.

Smoking:
The house is non-smoking, but guests are welcome to smoke in the front garden. We have sand pot ashtrays and a bench with a fine sea view.

Roomsizes:
All the room sizes are generous.. The single room (sea facing) is 3.3m x 3.2 (10.5 m sq); the twin room is 5m x 4.3m (21.5 m sq); the superior king size is 7.3 x 3.6m (26m sq), and the doubles range from 17 m sq to 19.m sq. All measurements are approximate, and include en suites, alcoves, bay windows, recesses etc.

Special needs and disability.
We have a dedicated fridge for guests in the lounge - which is ideal for storing any medication that needs to be refrigerated.

Please let us know if you have any special dietary requirements - vegetarian and vegan diets are no problem, nor are lactose and wheat intolerance. We especially like to know if someone is coeliac, so that we can apply the necessary hygiene practices that are so important.

Please let us know if you have any special needs, hearing impairment, disability, or mobility problems. We are happy to help with carrying, extra pillows, large print menus, a helping hand, etc as requested, and at the very least are ready to offer extra support and patience.
